Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
WatchWise Kids is built privacy-first. We help parents screen YouTube videos; we are not a service for children and we do not create accounts for children. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Early-access details:if you join the waitlist, we store your email address and (optionally) your child's age and a referral code.
- Video links you submit: the YouTube URLs you ask us to analyze, plus the public metadata of those videos (title, channel, thumbnail) used to produce a verdict.
- Account data (if you sign up): your email and the child profiles you create (age, sensitivity, and the categories you categories you choose to allow or block).
- Anonymous usage events: privacy-first funnel events (e.g. a screen was started, the waitlist was viewed) with no personal identifiers, to understand how the product is used.
- A functional cookie: when you join the waitlist we set a signed cookie so you can unlock additional free screens.
What we do NOT do
- We do not require a child to have an account or sign in.
- We do not track your child or monitor their device.
- We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
- We do not show fabricated reviews, counts, or testimonials.
Service providers
We use a small number of processors to run the service:
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication.
- OpenAI — analyzes the public video metadata you submit to generate a verdict. We do not send them your identity.
- YouTube / Google — we read public video metadata via official APIs (or oEmbed). We do not scrape.
- Vercel Web Analytics — anonymous, aggregated pageview statistics (pages visited, referrer, device type). No advertising cookies; used to understand traffic sources, not to profile individual visitors.
Data retention & your choices
You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@watchwisekids.com. If you joined the waitlist, you can unsubscribe at any time and we will remove your email on request.
Children's privacy
WatchWise Kids is intended for use by parents and guardians, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Any child-related information (such as an age or a profile nickname) is provided by the parent.
